Background
This client was interested in a cost-effective heating and cooling solution for their new factory, warehouse and offices. Due to the explosion risk of the manufacturing process, it was imperative that the heating system did not use oil or gas. In addition, air quality and humidity were of paramount importance. High efficiency and ease of maintenance were also high on their wish list. The client was also keen to ensure that any new system would provide a full heating, cooling, heat recovery and ventilation system and would increase overall performance. Due to security requirements, the building was designed as a sealed unit without windows or natural ventilation. Therefore, any system would need to be capable of operating 24/7.
The Solution
IPT designed and installed a 200kW GeoCube ground source heat pump, with full heat recovery, passive cooling, active cooling and separate OptiRad air handling units (AHUs) for the factory, warehouse and offices. The project was fully managed by IPT and delivered on time and in budget.
System Performance
In addition to providing a cost-effective heating and cooling solution, the GeoCube system has also been designed to run for the continuous hours associated with a 24/7 modern manufacturing facility. Integration with the building was a key component to the design as is the ongoing remote monitoring, maintenance and support to ensure maximum efficiency with limited downtime.
